Profile:
Peter works closely with the marketing and development
functions of Smallworld's three divisions to craft product
strategy and agree on product directions, and to provide
technical counsel to the global sales force. Widely
respected in GIS circles, he has presented many papers
on technical aspects of GIS around the world. He is
one of only two people to win a speaker award three
times at GITA, the industry's leading conference. He
is a member of the GeoWorld magazine Editorial Advisory
Board and was a member of the OpenGIS technical committee
from 1995-97.
Peter was the first employee to move from the UK to
the US when Smallworld started its American subsidiary
in 1993. He was responsible for the development of Smallworld's
market leading Outage and Distribution Management product,
PowerOn, from its inception in 1997 until the end of
1999. He has worked on many leading edge Smallworld
implementation projects and product developments.
Previous experience:
Before Smallworld, he spent six years working for IBM
in GIS, in both the UK and US, and established a reputation
as a leading technical authority on IBM's GIS products.
Educational
information:
Peter has a B.A. in Mathematics (First Class) and an
M.Sc. in Computing from Oxford University. He is a member
of the Geospatial Information & Technology Association
(GITA).
