Software Engineer

Brief Job Description

The Software Engineer will work on the analysis, design and development of the GUI and usability for the several software products. These are products used in utilities for designing, optimizing and managing electric, gas, and water systems. These are large and complex mission critical applications. The Developer will work in a Visual Basic GUI development environment, Oracle and a state of the art object oriented GIS technology in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Analysis of requirements delivered by Marketing
• Writing of functional and design specifications
• Application software design in a GUI development environment
• Programming in a GUI development environment
• Programming in an Oracle development environment
• Writing test specifications
• Assisting in testing activities
• Troubleshooting and maintenance of software
• Planning the migration from VB to the next generation of GUI

Qualifications & Experience

Required

• BS degree in Computer Science
• Work experience or college level courses (with high proficiency) in Visual Basic development

Desirable

• Relational database development/administration (especially with Oracle)
• Windows development
• GIS development
• Smallworld Magik development
